Score — The Jetty

This is Not Spiral Jetty

The title of the theme song for my film The Jetty comes from my first trip to the Spiral Jetty site, where the elusive jetty refused to appear.

This was back when the level of the Great Salt Lake was significantly higher than it is now. (Today there's maybe a mile of exposed lakebed beyond the jetty).

At the time, I thought an abandoned oil jetty might have been Robert Smithson's piece, as though somehow the spiral had mysteriously straightened. Entropy at work.
